# Shopify storewide SEO audit checklist

Date the audit, name the reviewer, and define the URL sample. Use **Observed**, **Reported**, **Inferred**, or **Not checked** for every finding.

## Scope

- [ ] Record primary domain, markets/languages, published theme and audit date.
- [ ] Sample homepage, priority collections, important products, blog posts, pages, 404 and each template type.
- [ ] Include recently renamed, hidden or migrated URLs.

## Access and indexability

- [ ] Primary domain and intended redirects work.
- [ ] Store is public and key URLs return the intended status.
- [ ] `/robots.txt` retains intended Shopify defaults and has no accidental broad block.
- [ ] `/sitemap.xml` loads and contains the expected child sitemap types.
- [ ] Search Console URL Inspection records access, indexing and canonical states separately.

## Template output

- [ ] One useful title, one page-specific description and one preferred canonical render in source.
- [ ] One clear H1 and main content render for each sampled state.
- [ ] Robots meta directives match the page's intended eligibility.
- [ ] Unavailable products, empty collections, pagination and variant states behave coherently.

## Page usefulness

- [ ] Product pages expose decision facts and current variant, price and availability.
- [ ] Collections explain the set and help shoppers compare.
- [ ] Blog posts answer a defined question, show author/dates and link to relevant catalog pages.
- [ ] Images that convey information have descriptive alt text.
- [ ] Support and policy links point to current pages.

## Links and changes

- [ ] Every priority page has at least one relevant crawlable incoming link.
- [ ] Anchors describe destinations without stuffing or generic wording.
- [ ] Broken links and avoidable redirect hops are assigned for repair.
- [ ] Old handles redirect to the closest useful replacement where appropriate.

## Structured data and performance

- [ ] Structured data matches visible name, URL, price, availability, author, dates and images.
- [ ] Rich Results Test and Schema Markup Validator results are recorded separately.
- [ ] Duplicate or contradictory emitters are traced to their theme/app owner.
- [ ] Shopify Web Performance windows and device views are recorded.
- [ ] Regressions are compared with theme, app, media and tag changes before assigning cause.

## Closeout

- [ ] Findings have severity, owner, action and retest date.
- [ ] Template-wide fixes are verified on a representative sample after release.
- [ ] Crawl, index, ranking, rich-result, traffic and revenue outcomes remain distinct.
- [ ] Limitations and untested markets, templates or states are listed.
