llms.txt generator

Describe your store and its key pages. Get a valid llms.txt file that tells an assistant what you sell.

Your inputs stay in your browser when JavaScript is enabled. We count anonymous results and successful file copies, without sending your inputs or using analytics cookies.

This becomes the blockquote an assistant reads first. Every field here takes up to 5,000 characters.

Still to fill in

Without a name and a summary this is a template rather than a description of your store. Fill in the first two fields and the file writes itself as you type.

llms.txt
# Your store

## Key pages

- Add at least one page above to fill this section.

How it works.

  1. Name the store and what it sells

One line. This becomes the blockquote an assistant reads before anything else on the file.

  2. Say it again with the specifics

Categories, price range, where you ship, and whatever a buyer asks before ordering. Two or three sentences, and up to 5,000 characters in any one field.

  3. List the pages worth reading first

Collections, sourcing, shipping and returns. Each one gets a line saying what is on it, which is the part that gets used.

  4. Publish it at /llms.txt

On Shopify, Shopify already serves /llms.txt, generated from the same text as /agents.md. To replace it, create templates/llms.txt.liquid in your theme and paste this file as plain text. On any other platform, serve it from the root of your domain.

Questions about this tool.

Do assistants actually read llms.txt?
Support is uneven and none of the major engines say they use it. An SE Ranking study of about 300,000 domains found no link between having llms.txt and being cited, and Ahrefs found that almost all sites with a valid file received no requests for it. It costs one file, so publish it if it is useful to you, but do not expect it to change AI answers on its own.
Is this a replacement for a sitemap?
No. A sitemap lists every URL for a crawler. This is a short, human-written orientation for a model, and both can exist.
What should I not put in it?
Anything untrue, and anything you would not want quoted verbatim. Assume every line is a line an assistant may repeat.
