Order attribution

Crediting an order to the article whose link the buyer followed, by UTM parameter or landing page, inside a fixed window. Citelift uses seven days and keeps the referrer separately.

Attribution answers one question: which article, if any, led to this order. Citelift answers it from two signals Shopify records on the customer journey. The first is the utm_content parameter that every product link in an article carries, which names the article directly. The second is the landing page path, for a visitor who arrived on the article without clicking a tagged link. An order counts for an article when one of those signals appears within seven days before the order. The referrer is stored as a separate fact and bucketed into Google organic, AI assistant, direct or other, so the dashboard can say both which post earned the order and where the visitor came from without confusing the two. Currency is converted and duplicates are removed so the totals are comparable across stores. What attribution cannot do is read minds: a buyer who read an article on one device and bought on another leaves no link, and no method recovers that. The number is a floor, stated as one.

Citelift is listed on the Shopify App Store: Citelift on the Shopify App Store.
